Introducing Alex Derksen!
Alex is a Physiotherapist, Rehab & Performance Coach, and Weightlifting athlete born and raised in Victoria, BC.
Alex is passionate about empowering individuals through movement, education, and communication, using evidence-based rehabilitation to help individuals overcome obstacles that are holding them back from reaching their goals. He is a certified ‘Clinical Athlete Provider’ who specializes in the management of athletes, designed to help athletes perform better and stay healthy longer. Alex feels an athlete is any individual who has active-related goals, no matter the age, skills, or abilities. He is also a certified Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, and a graduate from the Level Up Initiative Mentorship program, designed to create positive change in the world of healthcare.
Alex has taken many courses related to pain science education, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, exercise prescription, and injury risk reduction. He is founder of ‘Physio Strong’ an online rehab & performance platform helping weightlifters and Crossfitters reach their health & performance related goals. A skeptic of the status quo. A genuine believer in scientific principles, critical thinking, effective communication, movement optimism, and a strong coach-athlete relationship. Alex’s passion is to help athletes like yourself optimize their health, wellness, & performance to reach their potential not only in training, but in life itself.
Alex can typically be found in the gym training for Olympic Weightlifting and Crossfit, or climbing mountains and adventuring around the world with his fiancée, while indulging in plant-based dishes, aeropress coffee, and craft IPAs.
